County Commissioner
Susan Morris
I LOVE MY JOB
Thank you all for your continued support.
I have been your Isanti County Commissioner since 2006. Thank you so much for your continued support over the years. I truly love serving you, our community and doing what is right for Isanti County.
Vote for Susan, Tuesday, November 8, 2022
Hi, I am Commissioner Susan Morris and I am excited to announce my candidacy for re-election in District 5.
A little about me; I grew up on a Century Family Farm near Blomford. I am married, and the mother of five amazing, now adult, children. This background gave me a passion for, and a desire to serve our community, to which I owe so much.
I have the experience of running my own catering business for many years. I believe and practice servant leadership. I am a good listener and a hard worker, and always respond to my constituent’s concerns.
I believe in moving Isanti County forward.
Four years ago, I promised you that Isanti County was on a path of continuous improvement. My goal was to make Isanti County as efficient as possible, with great customer service, while saving you money.
I am happy to tell you that we are on our way to getting that done. A lot of research and thought went into our plan, which now includes reducing the number of departments from 17 down to 5. For the first time in the history of Isanti County we are downsizing and increasing efficiency, while at the same time cutting costs and providing better services to our citizens.
I am the founder of Isanti County Beyond the Yellow Ribbon, an organization which supports Veterans and their families. We have given over $230,000.00 to help offset the cost of furnace repairs, car repairs, rent, etc. Thank you, Isanti County citizens and businesses for all you do and give, so that we can support those that gave so much for us and our freedom.
I am looking forward to another opportunity to serve the people of Isanti County, and would appreciate your support.

Retired Veteran Supports Morris
September 15, 2022
To the editor,
In 2007 I retired from the Minnesota Army National Guard. At my retirement party Susan Morris approached me asking if I would be willing to work with her to develop the Isanti County Beyond the Yellow Ribbon. Over the course of this effort it was a privilege to get to know Susan as a person and a commissioner.
Susan is the real deal. She is an outstanding communicator and people person. She truly demonstrates the interest of veterans and their families as one of her core values.
Additionally, Susan is well connected with the surrounding communities, counties and at the state level. These connections are invaluable to Isanti County.
I am proud to call Susan a friend, share my faith in her abilities as a County Commissioner and offer her my endorsement for another term in office.”

Susan Morris is a True Public Servant
September 22, 2022
To the editor,
Former President Calvin Coolidge once said “What we need is not more Federal Government, but better local government.”
As a County Commissioner Susan Morris helps President Coolidge’s declaration ring true in Isanti County. Susan makes our county economically efficient while meeting the needs of people of all ages. Whether working towards providing better services for our elderly, our veterans, or our children, Susan brings out the best in what our local government can do.
Susan’s family has called Isanti County home since the 1870’s. She is deeply vested here, and will continue to use her servant-minded leadership to preserve the integrity of our community and embrace healthy progress. Susan is an independent thinker, capable of expressing her own ideas and initiatives while still recognizing the views and opinions of others. She makes key decisions with careful consideration, focused on doing what is best for the people of her district and of Isanti County as a whole. Susan enjoys actively talking to the people she represents and is a good listener and problem solver. She is a strong proven leader with a vast knowledge of local politics and a passion to serve others. She stands out as someone with no hidden agendas who strives to help keep Isanti County a great place to live and work. When it comes to a public servant with integrity, compassion, and a good old fashioned work ethic, re-electing Susan Morris this November is the clear choice.

Commissioner Morris Supports Members of Military
September 15, 2022
To the editor,
Susan Morris was elected commissioner while I was deployed to Afghanistan. Upon my return from active duty and my return to my job as Isanti County Veterans Service Officer, Commissioner Morris shared with me her vision to support Isanti County’s military service members, veterans and their families. Through hard work and dedication Commissioner Morris turned her vision into the Isanti County Beyond the Yellow Ribbon of which she continues to serve.
Commissioner Morris also serves on the Veterans Memorial Park Committee which has built a beautiful park in Cambridge offering a place to reflect and honor those who served. In addition, Commissioner Morris helped form, and serves on, Veterans H.O.P.E. on the River which is dedicated to assisting homeless veterans return to self-sufficiency and independence. Commissioner Morris has been, and continues to be, a strong supporter of our country’s military service members and veterans. She has my endorsement for Isanti County Commissioner.

Endorsing Susan Morris
September 29, 2022
To the editor,
I’m endorsing Susan Morris for Isanti County Commissioner. Susan has been at the forefront of accountability in county government, working on improvements in delivery of services and keeping the budget as lean as possible.
Susan is a great communicator. As a township supervisor, I appreciate how Susan relays information in a timely manner that helps keep our local unit of grass roots government moving as efficiently as possible.
Without question, Susan is a proud supporter of our men and women both current and past military. Susan was a founding member to create our veterans memorial park so we will never forget those who sacrificed so much and often everything so we can have a free country to call home.
Living in Isanti County we have much to be thankful for including our parks. With Susan’s help and support we have Anderson Park, this is a large park that will no doubt be a gathering place for people to relax, celebrate and discover our beautiful nature for generations to come.
Susan did not become a County Commissioner to use it as a stepping stone for some higher office, she believes in helping her neighbors have a safe place to live, work and enjoy all our area has to offer. I’m proud to support Susan for Isanti County Commissioner and I hope you will also support Susan Morris this November.

Susan Morris has their votes
October 6, 2022
To the editor,
I first met Susan Morris when I was raking leaves in our yard and she introduced herself as a candidate for the District 5 County Commissioner. She stated her positions and asked what I wanted from county government. Our neighborhood consists of family farms and homes on small acreages and it takes extra effort to canvas them. She got my vote.
Since then I have served on the Board of Directors of the Isanti County Commission on Aging (ICCOA) where Susan has been and is a member. I found her to be thoughtful and measured in her approach to issues facing nonprofit groups and a good listener. She offered her expertise in other levels of state government when appropriate.
Joe has worked with her as a constituent and has found that Susan is a 24/7 Commissioner and is always working to improve Isanti County
As expressed by other supporters in previous letters to the editor, Susan is generous with her time in other community organizations. It should be noted that Susan as a member of the National Association of Counties (NACo) was appointed by her peers this month as Chair of the Senior and Aging Services Committee which is part of Health and Human Services (HHS) . She gives Isanti County a voice on the national stage regarding senior issues. During these times of uncertainty and unrest, we need leadership and Susan provides that.

I work hard for you every day in county government. Here are a few of my initiatives since 2006.
High taxes impose an enormous burden on families and local businesses. Susan has worked hard to help keep your property taxes low in Isanti County. Thanks to Commissioner Morris’s fiscal prudence, Isanti County has the 19th lowest taxes per capita out of all the counties in the state.
Available and cost-effective transportation is extraordinarily important to a vibrant and growing community. Susan teamed with the City of Cambridge on the Highway 95 project, alleviating the congestion east of town.
Small businesses are the backbone of a healthy economy. County Zoning changes initiated under Commissioner Morris’s direction have helped numerous of our local businesses be successful.
Public Safety is of utmost importance to all residents of Isanti County. Commissioner Morris is committed to providing the Sheriff’s Department with the resources necessary for effective, strong law enforcement.
Veterans, active Service Members and their Families deserve our on-going support. Commissioner Morris worked with the Isanti County Veteran’s Office helping to establish the Beyond the Yellow Ribbon program, offering support for soldiers’ families during their transitions to and from deployment.
Commissioner Morris will continue to fight for lower taxes, accountable government and common sense solutions to Isanti County problems. “It has been an honor to serve as your District 5 County Commissioner and I humbly ask for your vote for re-election on November 8th.”
